Toyota Trucks North American Logo
Below is one of my most well known 3D models, the Toyota Trucks North American logo.
I made it for Toyota, Saatchi and Saatchi and Transistor Studios.
This was a really fun logo to work on, and I got to meet a lot of really cool people while working on it.
I was first given a line drawing of the final approved Bolt shape and Font. I then created a textured high-res model of it while emulating the old chrome Toyota logo style. That attempt was eventually discarded after about 38 tries, each one at 5K resolution. That process took about a month.
After a few more subtle iterations, I was finally encouraged by Rasmus (one of the Saatchi reps at the time) to take some liberties with it and put my own ideas into the surface texture.
This encouragement led to me quickly developing the final logo, which was made into something more rugged, trying to capture a "made in America" feel to it, with surface imperfections and oil stains. This newer “tough” approach also complemented the marketing campaign plans very well.
As with all corporate logos, I met with many people along the way, taking their thoughts and concerns into mind while making this logo.
Following the Toyota Trucks logo are some random 3D models that I have made for various projects over the years.
